Interpret an old CitizenMP.Server resource
The official CitizenMP.Server migration page is a historical porting guide, not a supported recipe for deploying the old server today. Preserve the old resource and data before translating its behavior into the runtime you intend to operate.
Script loading and evaluation
The historical page’s statement that require no longer exists refers to that migration boundary. It must not be generalized into a claim that every modern Lua/JavaScript module-loading mechanism is absent. Resource files are declared with the appropriate server_script, client_script or shared_script manifest entries; a server assembly belongs in the server declaration, not in a client file list.
LoadResourceFile(resourceName, fileName) reads resource data. load evaluates Lua source and is a different operation. A text file being readable does not make its contents trusted executable code. Prefer declared scripts or an explicit reviewed module boundary; do not execute arbitrary downloaded or client-selected strings to preserve an old dynamic-loader pattern. Check nil/error returns and the current sandbox.
Strings and bitwise expressions
The old str:Split extension is not a normal Lua string method. Use the appropriate Lua string operations for the actual delimiter contract. A gmatch pattern that builds a character class from the separator needs escaping and generally drops empty fields; it is not equivalent to splitting every CSV or multi-character delimiter. Keep helpers local rather than reproducing the historical example’s accidental global index variable.
The CfxLua transition replaced the old bit32 dependency with Lua operators such as & and |. Check the operand width, signedness and shift behavior expected by the old serialized format. Do not blindly replace a bitwise function in a protocol that depends on a particular integer representation.
CLR and resource boundaries
NeoLua’s clr namespace is not the current CfxLua-to-C# bridge. Compile C# for the selected CitizenFX runtime and expose a reviewed resource export when another language needs to call it. The C# interoperability lab separates client/server assemblies and demonstrates function boundaries. Enhanced’s .NET requirements are distinct from Legacy’s Mono-oriented targets.
Temporary connection identifiers
Do not retain bitwise tests that assume playerConnecting always receives an ID above 0x10000. The historical temporary-ID convention is not an account identity or a required modern admission step. Use the event’s documented context, save source before yielding, and account for session-ID reuse before asynchronous work changes privileges.
Follow connection deferrals, network IDs, and platform migration for the current task boundaries. Test every adapted feature on a disposable server; a successful syntax translation does not prove that old networking, storage or authentication assumptions remain valid.
